Sabbatical Diary – Day 36

Shingle spit leading to Hurst Point Lighthouse and Castle.

View across to The Needles (at the Western tip of the Isle of Wight) from Hurst Point spit.

Good day. Dry and bright. Basically rode around the mainland side of the Solent looking out to the Isle of Wight. Very pleasant and quite a lot of roads I haven’t travelled before.

Had a look around Selsey before I left. Interesting place. Nice. Then round the top of Portsea Island, then round to Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent, then up through Dock area of Southampton. Called in at Southampton Harley, called Dockgate 20 – which gives a clue as to where it is. The second dealership I just happened to be travelling past, after Preston. Good conversations with Jay (who has a Road King and a trike) and a couple of other guys. Then down to Calshot Castle, round to Lepe, inland a bit into the New Forest, through the beautiful village of Beaulieu, and down to Hurst Point spit, then through Lymington, Milford, Christchurch, and Bournemouth, ending up in an amazing hotel at the end of Sandbanks, on the Northern side of the entrance to Poole Harbour. All good.

View from my balcony!

Lovely evening enjoying this marvellous view.

God bless,

Mike
